Since 1993, independent research has been our contribution to better transport and planning outcomes.

The Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC) is a collaborative research centre hosted at the University of Western Australia. We work closely with our government partners to produce research outcomes that informs transport and planning policy and operations in Western Australia.

PATREC Research team

PATREC’s research is driven by a multidisciplinary team of researchers with deep expertise in transport, planning, economics, data analytics, urban design, sustainability and software development operations research. Together, they bring rigorous thinking to complex real-world challenges.

RESEARCH ADVISORY COMMITTEES (RACs)

Established to strengthen co-ordination amongst the PATREC partners in relation to the identification, planning, prioritisation, conducting, progress monitoring and promotion of core funded applied research projects, advising the PATREC Board on project level matters.

CARAC – Climate Action Research Advisory Committee

Coordinates the climate action - oriented transport and planning research.

PRAC - PATREC Research Advisory Committee

Coordinates the more ‘traditional’ transport and planning research.

PATREC Board

The PATREC Board provides governance and strategic oversight for the centre, comprising executive representatives from each of the collaborating partners. The Board ensures PATREC operates with integrity, accountability, and long-term purpose.
