PATREC awarded the first AURIN Node—Advancing Climate Action and Sustainable Planning in Western Australia

The Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC) at UWA has secured a $1.25 million grant to establish the WA Node of the Australian Urban Research Infrastructure Network (AURIN), with co-investment from the WA State Government, UWA, and Curtin University.
Through its Nodes, AURIN aims to establish long-term and strategic engagement with key scientific and higher education institutions to support high-impact research into the challenges of the impacts of climate change, energy transition and demographic transformation, on cities, regional centres, infrastructure systems and local communities.
UWA and other PATREC partners, supported by AURIN, will deliver critical datasets and analytical tools to support research in integrated land use-transport planning, resilient infrastructure and sustainable communities. Initially, the AURIN WA Node will primarily target WA researchers and government users involved in PATREC’s research program in climate action in transport and land use planning.
