Detailed Alternate Modal Trip Cost Comparison

Quite often when consumers make choices about which transport modes to use (such as rideshare, driving or public transport), the whole picture of what a trip costs isn’t considered. Car drivers quite often ignore the capital cost of purchasing a vehicle, such as depreciation and interest, whereas those who use active travel (walking and cycling) may not consider avoided costs such as gym memberships. This project aims to define and test a framework to consider a wider range of costs for trips taken using different modes and provide a method to compare costs for different modes for a specified journey.
